Howdy,

I have a buddy that has contracted a bad lung disease and would like to take his son prairie dog hunting before it kills him.

He was going to make the trip in a couple of years after he retired, however, this health problem has pushed up his timetable.

He is not adverse to a guided hunt, but has heard so many horror stories about rip-offs that he's kind of gun shy about going with somebody and not getting a good hunt for his son. He is only gonna do this one time.

If any of you folks would happen to know of a hunt that my pal could look into, please give a shout.

Thanks in advance,

Rudy

If Mr Derbys help does not pan out, I would suggest re consider the guided hunt. Guided is not the best term here, access is what you need.
I have shot them annually, multiple times for 25 or so years. Finding good places to shoot used to be easy. Today its very difficult.
I go guided these days.

Researched this outfit last year, seems like a good place to go!

They're in Oregon and the varmint hunt is for sage rats (Belding's ground squirrel) which are slightly smaller than prairie dogs, but are quite prolific and if you hit the right time, can have hundreds of shot opportunities per day.

Sorry to hear about your buddy & hope he gets out there with his son for one heck of a hunt!

Outfit in San Diego has great record with patients that MD's have told to "go home and die." Hospital Santa Monica. No idea what they can do but there is a lot more than main stream medicine. Luck.

Contact the chamber if there is one, or some locals
around Medicine Bow wyo. There's a lot of 'em in that
area.

Read some of Larry's short stories on MidwayUSA site.
He gives some reasonable directions a person with a
bit of time and willingness could sure use to find
a place to go shoot all he desires.

It's getting to be about time to do it though.
Wish him the best with the ordeal.
George
