Have any of you ever tried using Pac-Nor barrels. Are they any good? I have used Hart, Lilja, Douglas, and Shilen. All of them are good, but am willing to try another. They have a large selection of calibers and twist. They are also cheaper than Hart and Lilja. I have aquired a new benchrest action and stock and would like to put it together soon. Any information would be helpful. Thanks.

If you do a search you will find a great deal of info on PacNor. They do good work and make good barrels. - Dan

I would ask at www.benchrest.com for this question for a benchrest rifle.

I never heard of Pac Nor until I started reading that name on forums.

For me it's been Douglas and Hart.

I plan on using it for Pairie Dog hunting so I don't plan on using it for bench rest but I was interested in hearing if anyone has used them and have them on there own guns. I am sure they are fine barrels, just curious who has tried them. I have douglas and hart barrels and want to try something a little different. Don't really care about the price. I just think some barrels are over rated. Pac-Nor can supply me with the contour I need 1.5" staight taper to 1.3". I have done searches on Pac-Nor barrels, just interested in hearing from all of you. Thanks.

It is the luck of the draw as to how well any new barrel will group. For hunting purposes most any quality made barrel will group better than the guy can shoot the rifle. I would think the Pac-Nor barrel should give you all the accuracy you desire in a hunting rifle. The gunsmith who chambers and installs that barrel on your action will have more impact on the grouping ability of that barrel. Barrel makers today know how to rifle a bore no matter the method they use. The key to a good shooting rifle bore is consistantacy from end to end. Then how well the gunsmith finishes the job when he installs that barrel on your action.

I think the Pacnor barrels offer very good value for money. Whilst I dont have one on any of my benchrest rifles, I have a few Pacnor barrels on varmint rigs and have shot a lot of prairie dogs with them. In fact my VHA 500 yd club shot on a PD was with a 223 with a Pacnor barrel.

I have used Pac Nor barrels on a few rifles- all have been excellent, accuracy, cleaning, etc. People are nice to deal with- I will be using more Pac Nor barrels in the future.

Thanks guys. I wanted to hear from some of you who have used them and how they shot. I am going to order one tommorrow. Just thought I could use a little input from some of you. I also plan on using the rig for long range prairie dog hunting. That is the whole purpose of my post. Just didn't say that. I am sure they are fine barrels and are just as good as Hart or Lilja. Like I said in my first post, I am interested in giving my business to someone else.

Thanks,

Jeremy
