Gentlemen, I've been on a website that lists a whole bunch of PD outfitters in North and South Dakota. Their rates are quite similar and they all seem to claim 500 to 1500 shots per day. (that seems optimistic to me) Who can reccomend an outfitter for a two day shoot for 4 or five guys?

Why are you looking for an outfitter for prairie dog shooting? Well, that's what I thought when I read your first post. Go to one or more of the Sioux reservation websites and contact them directly. Most, if not all, of them allow hunting on tribal lands. Not sure if there is a fee or not. But you can find that out from them. Your best bet would be to contact the Rosebud Sioux Reservation. They have large, and I do mean large dog towns on their reservation. Note that in South Dakota MOST of the large prairie dog towns are in the southern half of the state...which wold include the Rosebud Sioux. On a large 'town' 500 shots in a day is not an exaggeration. In some cases, 1500 shots a day is not an exaggeration. Please note that I said "in some cases." You can also contact the South Dakota Game and Fish department from their website and they will have maps pointing out concentrations of prairie dogs on public land, reservations, and in some cases, private land. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at goghoti@sport.rr.com and use prairie dog in the subject line. John
