Anyone have one of these yet? http://www.savageshooters.net/Pages/Reviews/Savage_12BGTV_204_Page.html
Good, Bad, Ugly? I'm looking at doing a little trading for one if the local gunshop can get ahold of it. Review looks nice (good thing they're never biased Roll Eyes )

That is essentially a Savage 12 with the Synthetic Cheapo Stock removed and a Boyd's thumbhole laminate varmint stock installed...

If one already has a Savage 12 with synthetic stock, the Boyd's can be ordered and installed...

I just happen to have one of those "Savage 12 with the Synthetic Cheapo Stock". Thats what I was looking at trading. I bought the "inexpensive" Savage just so I could play around with the accutrigger and the 204. I didn't have either before. I am in love with both now. With the hit I was gonna take on the trade I think I can swing for the Boyds stock. Once again seafire---YOU DA MAN. Gotta love this place.

Con, Not to worry!! The .223 can do the deal on varmints a long way off too!! The guy I was shoting with on the day I shot the .204 long shots mad a 605 yard shot on a groundhog using a 1993 vintage BDL 700 SS light barrel with a 12x Leupold "friction adjust turrets" and he is deadly with it!! he was shooting 50 grain VMAXS ahead of WW748(cannot remember his exact charge but that rifle has has in excess of 5000 rounds thru it!!)so until you get the .204 in, you can still "do the deal" on varmints!!!! GHD

You've been reading too much and not shooting enough. That Savage 112 in .223 will give you all the firarms pleasure you could need. There is no magic in .204.

Personally I think that the .223 is an ill designed and conceived cartridge, but it is here and I WiLL enjoy it. BOOMroger
