Am looking at loading up some varmint rounds for my 308 Winchester. What bullets do you like and find accurate? Also, load data for them if you load. Any ideas appreciated. I've been looking at the 125 grains Speer TNT's but haven't decided yet. I'm looking for the "red mist" effect.

The Speer TNT work well. Also the 130 grain hollow points from Hornady.

Teesh-I've run the 125 TNT a whole lot on chucks out of an 06. That is by far the most impressive bullet I've found yet. I've not tried the 110 VM yet though.

I've always found the TNT line to be one of the most accurate bullets out there.

And at least on chucks I've yet to of found a bullet that would rack em as much as this bullet does.

Good luck to ya

i've seen several whistlepigs shot with the 110vmax from a friend of mine running them around 3600 fps...lets just say i've seen several nearly cut in half...it'll flat out ROCK a groundhog. get a box of both and do a little R&D with them and keep us posted on the results jumping

110gr. or the 135gr. Berger MEF is the best I have tried in my 700 VLS 308

Teesh,

I have shot the 125 TNT and the 110 V-max and found both give very good accuracy. I use the 110 V-max as I am trying to get as little recoil as possible. I have also got both of them to come apart before reaching the target but I doubt you will get to that point.

I am using a 300 WM so can't help you with loading data.

I always loved the Sierra 110 gr. hollowpoint. I used it on varmints up through Central Texas whitetails. It made getting ready for deer season easy.

My 300 WM doesn't do so bad either. Big Grin

If I can, I wait until the pd is lined up facing directly towards or away from me. This gives the 110 gr. V-max at 3650 fps a little more body to expand in. The effects are nothing less than spectacular. clap

After the red mist what is left is little thumbnail size scraps of bone and fur. The meat pretty much vaporizes. thumb

67 days and counting............ Smiler
