Hi Everyone,

Does anyone have any experience or exposure to the Nikko Sniper 6-24x42 scope. Is this a good quality scope optically and is it a true tough mil-spec scope? Also, where is it made?
Comments appreciated.

Thanks,
Aussie Hunter

Aussie Hunter,

I have a Nikko 3-9X42 with illuminated reticles.

For me it is a good scope, but I have put it on my lever action rifle in .444 Marlin. I prefer Swarovski scope on my hunting rifle.

This scope is made in Japan.

For benchrest, I have a Leupold 24X, my friend has a Zeiss 12-15X. These 2 scopes are brighter than Nikko for me a better choice for benchrest than NIkko.

Well I cant vouch for the mil sniper scopr but can give my view on the goldcrown . Well to put quite blunt , you get what you waste your money on to be quite honest. I have a 4-12 x 40 AO on my .22 Hornet , simply the worst scope i have tried in my life . it does not matter what youtry with focusing the eyepiece or the objective, the target stays out of focus. I have sent the scope back twice now , and they replaced it both times, one thing I might add is that the after sales service is excelent in every way. So to give you some piece of advice , if it carries the goldcrown on it , waste it . The Diamond series is sure quite a fine scope , then again you get what you pay for [Big Grin]

I think the best thing is to fork out the doe and stick to leupold I am in the process of replacing all my optics to leupold except for my tasco pro-point on a lever .44. I have to shit scopes to go, a trashco on my 30/30 and a simmons on my Brno model 2.

Hi Guys,
I have since found out that the scope is made in
Japan. I have a Diamond series scope at the moment
on my 6PPC and with a hunting load got 0.25 MOA off the hood of my car at 200 metres the other day.
If the Sniper is made the same way then I expect it should be very good. Unfortunately my local gunshops don't stock much to look at.
Thanks for you advise. I probably wont touch a gold crown.

Now days only the diamond and platinum series Nikkos are made in Japan. The golds are made in Korea and the Silver in china or Taiwan (can't remember)
The Jap made ones are OK, not great but OK. just don't subject them to too much recoil.
