Howdie! First time poster here and I have a question: does anyone have any information on this rifle, good or bad. I believe that this rifle was introduced last year. I am in the market for a 22-250 and I am considering all of my options. I did a search of this site and found lots of oppinions on Remington, Savage, etc.but nothing about this rifle. Thanks! cmg141

Hello cmg141, You're absolutely correct. You never hear much about Browning as a varmint rifle, or Ruger and Winchester either although they all make them. Remington and Savage seem to get all the notice. It may well be for good reason, I'm not sure. I'm a Remington and Sako man myself. Never been disappointed with either. Best wishes. CMG: I only own three Brownings. However if in the market, I would not hesitate to buy one of these. All of my Brownings have been fantastic shooters. I still kick myself for being conservative and not buying a used 223 Browning with a factory synthetic stock and the BOSS on it. If this one comes with a Boss and a Gray Laminate stock, you will have one classy rifle. Kind a like owning a Caddy in a world everyone owns Chevys or Buicks.

I have two Brownings, a BL22 and a Stainless Stalker in .243. The .243 fits me very well and I get 1” grouping right out of the box. When I have time during the next few weeks, I will play with the BOSS option to tune it in for better accuracy. I am not sure what the difference is between the Varmint Stalker and SS other than the barrel and maybe the stocking. The BOSS option is a great idea as long as you use the CR option. Not sure if that is available on the Varmint Stalker. Danny Boy

Danny Boy, What is the CR option. I don't think I've heard of it. One thing I'll say for the BOSS. It does indeed work. The only problem is you have to find this sweet spot for each different make and type of bullet you're shooting. That would drive me right up the old wall. Best wishes. Cal - Montreal

I can only add from my own experience. First, the CR option is a piece that gives you the same "tuning" effect as the BOSS but without the recoil reduction / noise increase. Basically it lets you fire the rifle without a brake but still keep the sweet spot you found with the BOSS. I've personally switched back and forth on a 300WinMag and can attest that accuracy or point of impact wasn't affected. Difference in recoil was definitely noticable. I can also say that i set the BOSS at 8.5 out of the box and been getting about 1" groups with just about everything I feed it. Notice 2 "abouts" there, but I've been very impressed.
