A local shooter has several hundred Berger .22 cal 30 grain bullets which he has offered to sell me at a very reasonable price. He was shooting them in a Hornet but has sold that rifle. I was thinking of using them in either a .223 or 22-250 (both 1:14) for some of our smaller vermin out to maybe 200 yards. Has anyone tried these -- and what were the results. I've used the "standard" weight Bergers and do like them, but I never attempted any of the lightweights in the .223 or 22-250.

They are supposed to be terrific pelt bullets even for fox/bobcat size animals, though I have never had the chance to use any. Have a Shiner Bock for me, anyway. FWIW, Dutch.

I doubt they would hold together out of the 250.

I thought hornet bullets were smaller (.223 vs .224) Don't know if that would make any difference or not.

Older Hornets were .223. All modern Hornets use the standard .224 bore size.
