I was out for my morning walk when I noticed a coyote standing about 125 yards away. I drew my 6 inch 686+ sat down placed the top of the front sight level with its back. Then sent a 158gr swc towards him, off into the woods he went. As I approached the place I shot at it. He came running back across the road at full speed. At about 45 yards I shot once when he was in the open and touched another off when he hit the woods. I wasn't surprised I missed him but I would not have been surprised if I would have hit him either. Over the past 60 years I made some very hard shots missed some fairly easy shots. I can tell you. I never killed anything by not shooting.

I can relate. A few years ago, several of us were doing an eradication shoot + I missed with what IMO was a fairly easy shot, while none of the others even got off a shot. One of the guys was razzing me about missing that easy shot. I just told him that yeah, you gotta shoot at them to miss them. It took him a little while to figure out he had been insulted.
