The Remington 788 was a mistake in a way. It is an inexpensive alternative to the model 700 that turned out to be a very accurate model. They are no longer made, and there were never many options available to them. They are especially popular with varmint hunters, and a good used one is usually a steal. They came in left handed variations which were really right sided chambers with the bolt handle welded onto the port side. The 721, 722 were earlier models of the current model 700. The model 700 is the flagship of the line so to speak. A lot of options are made for these rifles, and they were fairly popular with benchrest shooters for convesion to bench rifles. It's a very strong action. Incidently they are currently available to the public (need an FFL) from Brownells for a limited time. The actions sell for $400. as per Brownells. There aren't many actions made available to the public today. Best wishes. Cal - Montreal | |||
