The owner of the small ranch where I shot the jackal the other day asked if I could come back. Another jackal is killing his fowls. I was limited to only one stand as the property is only about 80 acres. After about 30 minutes on the stand and with no vocal response or eyes I decided to call it a night. On my last scan I picked up two sets of eyes. They moved from the Poplar trees up hill. The rabbit in distress call was enough to entice one closer. At the shot he started spinning. It looked like he went down and I reloaded for the second jackal. This one stayed backed at about 200 meters. No matter what I tried he did not want to come in. I tried a long distance shot with the 22K Hornet. Did not connect. This was a male jackal about 6 to 7 years old. I skinned the jackal and will have a flat skin made and a skull mount. Gerhard FFF Safaris Capture Your African Moments Hunting Outfitter (MP&LP) Proffesional Hunter (MP&LP) History guide Wildlife Photographer www.fffsafaris.co.za

The next time I make it back to Africa, I think I would like to add a jackal to the list. Graybird "Make no mistake, it's not revenge he's after ... it's the reckoning."

They were all over the place where I hunted in Namibia, and the damn things kept me up all night. The PH, told me that he had killed all the ones near his house so he could sleep at night, but it took baboons moving in to get rid of them.
