...Well I just got home, with my tail between my legs...

Luck just wasn't with us on this trip, we called and hunted very hard, and got very little response.
We called for bobcats in southern Alberta, seeing a few coyotes and getting shots at 2.
But never did a cat show up.
One I clean missed coyote and the other was a laser ranged 486meters "hail mary shot". After I missed a rabbit 3 times I suggested we check the rifle(it wasn't mine) 100yards, 8inches high 4 inches left...

I shot just one coyote, and a few snowshoe hares.

We spent two days calling for wolves in the north, got howling responses twice on the second day. There was a hell of a lot of sign, renewed on both days that was fresh. The only explanation for this could have been that they had killed a moose and weren't interested in eating, though they should have been keep to defend their territories in preparation for breeding when challenge howled.

I was pleasantly surprised that RedFrog, who is almost old enough (29) to be my cousin had as much GO as I did, every morning up and at 'em before light, and on every stand, he'd look over, give a little wink, as hopefull as ever and we'd start. Every one of those stands, not a thing stirred.
I actually called the dog I shot at in myself with an Australian button whistle, he came running in till RedFrog stopped him at about 140 meters. I was impressed with this little tin whistle.
We also called in 13 mule together(many more singles) deer with a fawn distresss call, they came to about 10m before catching our scent and moving off.

In consolation, it still was a very enjoyable hunt, good company, and I got to see some big mule deer bucks, a few whitetail does, 2 moose, some pronghorn, one very good buck, a furry red fox, bison(penned) and most importantly, learnt a lot about predtor calling.

If someone can post the photos I'll be glad to send them via e-mail after scanning.

Glad you had a good time. Next time come to Saskatchewan. We have plenty of coyotes and don't mind sharing them. This time of year the fur is thick and most of the ones with mange have died from the cold. No bobcats and wolves are for residents only unfortunately.
