I also shoot a 6 MM Rem on a 700 action that use to be a 30/06, so it is a long action. This allows bullets to be seated out quite a ways. I usually seat them only about a 1/4 of an inch or so in the case.

The Barrel is a 24 inch PacNor with a 1 in 8 twist for shooting the 107 grain Sierras and the 115 grain Berger Match bullets.
Contour is Magnum Sporter or Heavy Sporter weight.

What has surprised me is the velocity capabililties with mid range power and the bullets in the 75 grain Range. With 4064 and RL 15 It has exceeded the manual velocity by 200 fps or better. Accuracy has been very tight groups.

It is one flat shooting rifle. I am going to duplicate this barrel on a Winchester Action. People compare the 6mm Rem to a 243. However if one has a long action to take advantage of, it is more in competition with the 6mm/06 or 240 Weatherby than the 243. 55 grain ballistic tips have clocked over 4300 fps with H 380 in this rifle. 75 grain Hornady HPs have cleared 3650 fps. Those same cases have been alive and fine after the 5th reloading, so I assume pressures are more than safe.

With 46 grains of RL 19, the 115 Bergers have clocked 3250 consistently. Built a rifle like this on a Enfield action for a nephew when he graduated High School last year and is bound for one of the military academies. HIs rifle ended up with the same velocity results.

The 6mm Rem really shines in my book. I am glad it is not more popular because it feels like a smaller more astute crowd of us know what a great cartridge it really is!

Cheers and good shooting

I have a 6AI built on a short-action 700 with a 26" Shilen, and iv'e been doing pretty well with the 87 Horn BTHP. The only reason i shot this bullet was because i couldn't get the 87 V-Max to shoot. That bullet has a BC of .4 which is as high as it gets for varmint style bullets. On calm days that 87 would do about .5-.75 MOA out to 800 yds. If u could get that V-Max to shoot tho it ought to do some things way out there. I've only firformed once since the birth of this rig, and am getting ready to do it again shortly. 1 thing i like about the 6mm case is its nice long neck which allows for a lot of OAL flexibity for different bullets.

Hey Flowers-- have u checked out Blaine Eddy's Wildcatting Made Easy video?-- he's got a system for necking down those cases that'll practically guarantee 0 case loss. Pretty darn slick system i tell ya'-- i'm getting one of his "plates" here shortly. Wait till you see his system-- it's been sitting around right in front of our eyes since the beginning of wildcatting-- but nobody saw it, i don't think.

Had to edit this post-- had the wrong bullet weight in here-- sorry.
