I opened my new Varmint Hunter magazine and what did I see?
The smiling face of none other than Groundhog Devistation and his daughter!
I bet she out shoots him [Wink]

I hope when my own daughter gets old enough she will have an intrest in hunting and shooting.
The day she out shoots me I will be tickled pink

Hairtrigger, I haven't seen it yet! My magazine hasn't come yet!! Must be her deer! There was no shaking, no nervousness....just the words.."Daddy, I can kill him!" 271 yards! After the shot she was excited! Before that I had told her to just "squeeze easy, like on the groundhogs!" Instantaneous drop!!! No steps any direction, just dropped!!!! 170Lbs, 17" spread, 8 points. She has already got her deer for this year picked out! He's bigger!!! GHD

The photo in question is another trophy for the 17 HMR and a groundhog that had a bad day

What caliber do you have her using on deer?

its so nice to see young women taking an interest in our sport . my youngest daughter is 19 and has been hunting with me since she was 12 . she has the patience of a saint . this spring was her first for spring turkey and the last week i was getting very frustrated as i hadnt been able to put a bird in front of her . told her exactly what was on my mind and her reply was this . " were having fun arent we ? enough said . before her first year of deer hunting i asked what rifle she thought she would want and she went to the gun cabinet and pointed out a mauser 98 in 8mm that my father had built . it has a good old set of lyman peeps on it and its all she has ever wanted . im quite proud

rickinpatton, Yes it's great when they want to hunt or shoot or just go with "Daddy"! Sarah's first groundhog hunt was when she was about 3 or 4 and I busted one up pretty good with the 25-06. When we got home I can still see her running down the sidewalk, through the front door and exclaiming, "Mama, Daddy shot a big groundhog! And I saw it's guts!!!!" Mama was not impressed!! The 260 is Sarah's rifle...traded HER xp-100 in 7BR for it! She loved my 7BR but wanted one of her own...I found one! Then she killed the groundhog using the 17HMR and decided she wanted a rifle to deer hunt....here we are!!! GHD
