I was corresponding with a Varmint Hunter via E-mails recently regarding the accuracy of the 6mm Remington BR cartridge. The gist of our discussion resulting from his initial question centered around his wanting a light recoiling very accurate 6mm Varmint cartridge. I suggested the 6mm BR and he countered with why not the 6mm PPC. My contention was the 6mm BR was capable of more velocity (flatter trajectory) and was also capable of world class accuracy. I referred him to the article I will try to link to here for any interested parties. The article is called -Secrets Of The Houston Warehouse - and was originally published in the magazine Precision Shooting some time back. Anyway the article is fascinating reading for anyone interested in ultra accurate Rifles and cartridges. In short there was a warehouse in Houston that allowed about 30 people over the years to fire their BR type Rifles inside the warehouse, at night where the lighting was excellent and the air was virtually still. Two different Rifles in caliber 6mm BR shot repeated 5 shot groups averaging .060" and .050" respectively! Thats right the whole dispursion for these group averages for these Rifles in caliber 6mm Remington BR were 60/1,000ths and 50/1,000ths of an inch! That is virtual "one hole accuracy"! Unbelieveable accuracy this! I do a war whoop and a jig when I shoot a group close to .250"! I can not imagine a 5 shot group of .050"! Another astounding finding from all the shooting done there in the still air of the warehouse was that 22 caliber Rifles were MORE accurate than the 6mm calibers! Anyway the article is always fascinating reading for me and I will try and link it here or post the address for you interested shooters to copy and paste. http://www.angelfire.com/ma3/max357/houston.html Hold into the wind VarmintGuy [ 05-20-2003, 03:47: Message edited by: VarmintGuy ]

Neat story Varmintguy, thanks for posting this. I have seen references to the Houston Warehouse in old Precision Shooting articles, but this is easily the most information I've ever come across. Shooting lore, indeed - mike [ 05-20-2003, 13:12: Message edited by: mho ]
