what do you need the extra velocity for? You are getting pretty good accuracy already. If you really want higher velocity, a combination of using a smaller bullet and adding more powder, or perhaps changing powder, would be thoughts to consider.

You seem to have found an excellent "222 Remington" load for us. What primer are you using? Such a load will give a light report.

That powder will max out close to 3500 fps according to an old Hodgdon book. If you want to hit the max velocity then a little slower powder like 4064 will do it.

h322 is probably one of the best powders for the 222 but in order to get it to really perform in the 250 you would get the best results with 35-45g bullets. With those you could better fill the case. Varget, h380, w760 abd such are really good perfomers in the 250 with 50g+ bullets

You're not doing your 22-250 justice. You could get that kind of velocity with a .223. Try some 4895 or the old standby H380. H414 does well also. I've fooled around some with Varget but not enough to say yeah or nay about it. I do like to use a ball powder when I load for a 22-250 as I am mainly a prairie dog shooter and you have to be able to crank out some ammo. The ball powder runs thru the measure like water.
Using a 52gr bullet, you ought to be able to get 3600fps without a strain.

Have to agree with those who are saying you are not using that 22-250 to it's potential! I get 3700+ with 50/52/53 grain bullets in my 40X, but of course it has a longer barrel. My favorite powders are 4064, H380, Reloder 15 and Vihtavuori N-140. Varget works well too, as does H4895. I have many groups under .6" @ 200 Meters, esp with the N-140, which my rifle seems to favor. I use a lot of H322 in my 222 Remingtons, where it really shines. Regards, Eagleye. [Big Grin]

If you are looking for a mild load for your 22-250 YOU FOUND IT!!
Depending on what you are shooting and how far at what you may not need to look further.
Here in Ohio I very seldom shoot at woodchucks further than 300 yards, Maybe I just cannot see them any further out but I blame my bad fortune on the fact that it is just too darn populated.
I have a nice Sako heavy barrel in 22-250 but I usually shoot 222 or 221 Fireball

If you already have a .221 & .222 than I see no reason to shoot a 22-250 at such low velocity. The 22-250 will also launch heavier bullets at good velocities which the other two can not.
My suggestion is to use 55gr bullets and any of the mentioned powders.
Personally, I have had the best accuracy with IMR 4064 & H380. You should be able to shoot the 55gr bullets at about 3,600 ft/sec, with good accuracy. Even at 300yds, the 22-250 will be a better cartridge when the wind starts a-blowin'.
