Canjar makes an adjustable set (optional) trigger for the 788. They are pricey and delivery is slow. Great triggers though. I have a file from a couple other gents who were kind enough to send them to me about making the trigger adjustable yourself. If you email me, I'll send you a copy. - Dan

Don't think Canjar makes the 788 trigger anymore, but Timney said in an e-mail that they were introducing a 788 trigger at the SHOT Show (just completed), to be available this spring. I think price was around $79.
And you are right about Canjar being slow...incredibly slow.

There's a guy in Texas by the name of Mike Bryant who modifies 788 triggers so that they're fully adjustable. He does this for $50.00. Requires you send him your trigger and I'm not sure what the turn around time is, but there's not many options for the 788. www.bryantcustom.com

Well, the Timney thing is good news. What Canjar does is take your name, ask for payment, and when they get enough orders on deposit, they make a run of them. You'd have to call them to get the details though. But that's why it takes so long, or at least what they told me. - dan

A fellow shooter just bought a 788 in 222 Rem, and is hot to go on improving the trigger. I deleted the e-mail he got from Timney, but in it they said they would have it out soon, after formally showing it at the SHOT show. We'll see, as it does seem odd to just now bring one out, 10+ yrs after Remington quits making them. I have one that I had converted to 221 Fireball, and the 'smith did something wonderful to my trigger, but it is not visible what was done.

Timney sent me an email this morning (Feb.19/03) stating that they are going to build them, they will be adjustable from 1 to 4 pounds trigger pull, the cost will be $95.65 + $6.00 S & H, for a total cost of $101.65. All funds in US, of course. They should be available in May. - Dan
