I am thinking about installing a new trigger in my rem 700vs 22-250 and I was wondering what you guys thought about the timney and shilen triggers.I have never had a aftermarker trigger and really don't know much about them. Thanks!

I have Rifle Basix three lever triggers in all of my 700's the ones I use adjust from 1.5 lbs to 8 oz. Very good trigger for the money, a little over $100. If you want the very best buy a Jewell. While the Jewells are great triggers, I don't think they are that much better than a Rifle Basix to justify $100 dollars more than the Rifle Basix cost. JMHO

I have a timney on both my model 98Mausers , one in 7x57mm & the other in .22-250 . Both these are custom built rifles , and I chose the timneys on both with great delight.

Of the two triggers you were interested in, I feel that the Shilen is probably the better of the two.
In regard to other triggers, the Jewell is the absolute best in my opinion. I have a couple of other custom triggers, but feel the Jewell is absolutely the best. I now own five of the darned things. They are extremely expensive and they will certainly spoil you.
I have heard lots of good things about the Shilen, though. The Timneys used to have a reputation for breaking at the worst possible moment, I do not know how they are now.

No doubt, Jewells are great. I have two and love them. They are also twice as expensive as the other choices. I have a Shilen & am growing to like it a lot. I also have three or four Timneys. In a hunting rifle, they offer all you need, at a good price.
However, don't overlook having your factory trigger worked over. Properly done, they can be wonderful, and at very little cost.
Where is Church Hill? I'm near Memphis. If you're anywhere close, you are welcome to shoot any of my rifles (triggers), for some hands-on feel before you commit to anything. You may find that you really prefer one over the other.
Just put a Shilen in my Rem.700. very nice, will be puting them in all my 700's. Easy to install and they work fine for me. No creep or grind and a clean crisp let off.
Being that I'm using my rifles in the field and not just target shooting, my let off is at ~2 lbs, which suits me fine.
Try this theory. I do not have a lot of money to invest in bells and whistles for my toys so when I do make a purchase I demand the most bang for my buck. When I buy a trigger for a new project rifle only one comes to the head of the class every time and that is a Jewell. If you are going to limit yourself to the choices you mentioned get the Shilen.
Well I know you already made your decision but I wanted to chime in. I have a Timney on a mauser and it is very nice. I asked my gunsmith to install one on my frankonia and he recomende a Bold Trigger. I like it Much better than the Timney
Pecos, Bold is just another brand. It looks very much like a Timney. My gunsmith got it I think from Brownells but I am not sure. He said he liked them better than the Timney so I took his word for it. I have seen them advertized but forget where.
Ok guys..I can't seen to get my shilen trigger just right.I can get the trigger pull at what I won't but If I shut the bolt hard,it goes off.I have got my factory rem triggers in good shape but this shilen is a little tougher to adjust.Any sugestions?
