FIRST LET ME SAY THAT I AM HONORED TO JOIN YOU ALL HERE. I JUST BOUGHT A .204 COOPER VARMINTER AND 6-24 BUSHNELL ELITE 4200 FOR IT. I AM WONDERING IF ANYONE OUT THERE HAS ANY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS RIFLE? AND WHAT I SHOULD EXPECT AS FAR AS CLEANING AND RELOADING FOR IT? I WAS ALSO WONDERING HOW TOUCHY IT IS TO RELOAD, I HAD A .17REM AND IT WAS A PAIN TO RELOAD, IS THE .204 THE SAME? I HAVE NO EXPERIENCE WITH THE .204 BUT I REALLY LIKE THE .17REM. THE GUN SHOP HAD THE COOPER VARMINTER IN .17REM, .204RUGER, 22-250, 243WIN, AND 17HMR. NOW I HOPE I MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE. THE ONLY ONE I NEVER PLAYED WITH WAS THE .204, AND I ALWAYS LIKE SOMETHING NEW. BUT, IF YOU COULD LET ME KNOW ABOUT SOME OF YOUR EXPERIENCES WITH THE COOPER I WOULD APPRECIATE IT.

IMHO,If you don't need a repeater(the Cooper Varminters are all single shots?)the rifle you bought is about as good as it gets for a factory gun.The only thing out of the box that will run with it in terms of quality for the cost is a 40x Remington... Imwould guess abou the only thing that MIGHT be a problem is getting the proper sized .20 rod, brass jag and clening brushes to properly clean the barrel. Other than that,it should be no worse than a .22 BTW- The .204 will do 99.9% of what any other cartridge on the above list will do on Varmints(except for the 6MMs). With 40g bullets at a high enough velocity(3,900+) the .204 runs with about any .22 varmint rig out to 400yards... NEAT CALIBER!!!
