Called in my first Coyote yesterday with a Handcall! I've made it my mission this year to not only collect hand calls (I think I'm around 15 or so Handcalls) , But to get good at them! Made three sets....The first two were mid day and were dry. The last set I called in a Double from about 300 yds out...They must have been in the area because they came straight in around 30 seconds in to calling. Stopped him (Young Male) 120 yards, 5:40pm Rifle: Ruger M77 Hawkeye (LH) in .204 Ruger Call: Kettle Creek Calls Backstabber ICE ( I think Curtis sold his company to Foxpro ) 34gr Winchester Coated Hollow point entered the chest (coyote facing me) and dropped the coyote. No exit, .20 cal hole in. Perfect Bobcat / Fox load I think. I was impressed, but have always been fond of .204. Missed the double at about 300 yards with it trotting off. Not used to the flat shooting 204R, sent one over it's back "Let me start off with two words: Made in America"

Big time congrats!!!!! [] You will remember this one for a long time to come! You will also find call collecting an addiction. I would highly recommend getting a copy of Jay Nistetter and Al Lux' book: "Predator Calls-The First 50 Years". Before long, your collection will start to look like this: There is room for all of God's creatures....right next to the mashed potatoes. http://texaspredatorposse.ipbhost.com/

Congrats on the accomplishment! Often you can Ki Yi or bark and stop them even after shooting. It's harder to do when you are on the gun as opposed to having a partner stop them for the shooter. If you hit them quick with a series like an injured pup you can get them coming back in as well.
