Same here in New Zealand. I have lost count of the times I have seen bicyle riders run red lights in front of cops. What pisses me off is that they don't pay road user charges, yet use the road and do what they like. Then they complain when motorists hurl abuse at them. They should all have to pay road user charges. And actually have to ride ON the road, because they are also a menace when riding on the footpath. She was only the Fish Mongers daughter. But she lay on the slab and said 'fillet'

Well...just got done reading many of the posts about this topic. I can tell that I am an avid hunter & cyclist. I am very disapointed to read some of this crap. Can't speak for other countries, but here in the U.S. many road cyclist are high-income people who pay more than their share of taxes. So stop with the "they don't pay anthing & get to use the roads bullshit !" You can yell or honk all you want. As long as I am obeying the laws of the land, you can pound salt. I have noticed that when I confront drivers who yell or throw trash or act like a jerk, they usually back down and drive off....it is easy to be a coward & yell in the safety of your vehicle. Lighten up with the threats of violence. Yes, to some I might look like a "fruit" in my cycling outfit, but I bet I look better than many of you with your "beer gut" hanging over your camo pants.....and I wear camo all the time when hunting. I can tell you that most women would rather look at my tight butt than beer guts hanging over your belt. So lets just take it easy on the F...ing Bikers comments. I apologize if my riding makes you wait an extra 7 seconds on your way to Starbucks. By the way.....hang up the dammned cell phone & stop texting when you are passing me.

SR4759, Who asks kids not to ride their bikes on the sidewalk due to you watering your yard ? Jesus, what a neighbor you must be ! I have a visual of you.....65 years old, wears white socks with black dress shoes. Likely worked for the county, retired after 20 years with some ungodly retirement package you didn't earn at taxpayers exspense. Screams like hell when the "damned kids" ride their bikes on the sidewalk. Doesn't like it when people who don't look just like him move into the neighborhood. Refers to anybody who doesn't celebrate Christmas as a "godless queer". Am I fairly close ? I would like to continue, but I just saw some kids riding their bikes on my sidewalk while I am watering my yard. I have to go threaten them !

You are pretty close but I think he is older and does use Depends. He is I believe the one who uses the wet ones to patch out his barrel (thinks it is more effective than solvent). He is a whack job who has dementia and putting those two maladies together make for very interesting comments from the old goat.

Just because a bicyclist isn't in his car at the moment does not mean he pays no taxes for the roads. The laws are not designed on any basis of priveledge, but rather a reflection of the fact that bicycles lose all collisions. I find them less annoying than the morons driving with their cellphones.

In the state of Texas and all states to some degree, it is the license plate fees (based on vehicle weight), fuel tax, and inspection sticker fees that pay for the paved roadways and their maintenance. It is the motorized vehicle that the tax is based upon, not the driver. Texas as well as California, Florida, etc. are what are known as "donor states". The Federal govt. takes money away from more populated states and gives it to less populated states like Iowa, Wyoming, Vermont, etc.. NO, bicycles do not pay a single dime for the road ways they abuse! Bicycling on motor vehicle roadways is nothing more than liberal socialism at it's best. Divide and conquer. Mike, Other than the occasional crotch rocket cutting in and out of traffic and also one time this summer in Colorado (about 10 motorcycles simply parked their bikes in the road for a break), I have never had any problems with motorcycles. And even if one is hit by a car, etc., they still are insured and licensed. Yeah, alot of them are pricks but hey, they at least pay to be pricks. Interesting discussion about bicycles on motor roadways this morning on a KTSA radio in San Antonio. I caught the tail end of the show, but as I understood it a former SAPD was hit/killed while riding his bike on a FM road. He was in the middle of a lane and a motorist came over a hill and was blinded by the setting sun.........splat. I am still waiting for one of our forum attorneys to instruct on how to take proper legal action against bicycle riders that cause accidents. I suppose maybe carry a camcorder? There are still two laws that bike riders cannot circumvent; Newton's law & Darwin's law. Wife and I have a permanent joke, every time we pass one. Hey look , another potential organ donor. I like it SR4759! Just wish we could train the little Texas Hill Country bucks to do that!! The south Texas bucks would do that if we could get the spandex queens to garnish some doe urine. Best part is there are not many bi...cyclers in the brush country. So you are concerned that a cyclist won't have proper insurance if he causes an accident ? I wouldn't be too concerned about it, as most of these people likely are covered by some other insurance, umbrella coverage, etc. As mentioned before, many ROAD cyclist are hi-income people & know how to cover themselves with proper insurance. Trust me, I am more concerned about drivers with NO insurance. My chances of being hit by an uninsured motorist on my bike is hundreds of time greater than you being involved with an uninsured cyclist.

SR4759 had a bike but traded it for this model http://www.spinlife.com/images/product/18564.jpg it holds his Depends and Wet Ones for when he does a big job chasing down the kids who ride across the sidewalk in front of his assisted living centers common area. He tears after them like a Gerbil Jouster in West Hollywood!
