Ok guys, I have completed all the writing Imhave to do for a couple of days. I will get a master list of the Best Actresses formed Sunday evening.

After including all obvious actors, I enjoy:

Dick Powell after he changed his persona in "Murder My Sweet" (1944). Then came "Cornered" (1945), "Rogue's Regiment", "To the Ends of the Earth", "The Tall Target", and several others.

Errol Flynn. He was a better, more versatile actor than most give credit. Try "Footsteps in the Dark" for an entertaining comedy-mystery.

James Robertson Justice. While he always portrayed the same basis character, try "Very Important Person" aka "A Coming Out Party".

Charles McGraw. While better known as a first-class "B" movie tough guy, he was a good character actor in many "A" movies, such as "The Bridges at Toko-Ri".

And my most under-rated actor — Glenn Ford. Comedy: "The Sheep Man", "Pocket Full of Miracles". Drama: "Cowboy", "Experiment in Terror". Villain: "The Man From Colorado". The only actor who was comparable was James Stewart.

These are a good start.

This is interesting so just for the sake of argument + keeping this thread going, how about listing the movies that your favorite actress was in? I'll start. Lauren Bacall in "To Have + Have Not" (her film debut), Cate Blanchett in "Elizebeth". Susan Hayward in "I want to live."

Val Kilmer's portrayal of Doc Holiday in "Tombstone" was epic. His total immersion into a character that was a dying alcoholic and a deadly gunfighter that was loyal to a friend to the very end is to me one of the very best theatrical performances I have ever witnessed. He absolutely stole the whole film.

Also, don't overlook Lee Van Cleef. His performances late in his career in the Clint Eastwood westerns, especially "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" are especially noteworthy.

I wrote Lee Van Cleef a letter in the mid-'60s via Hollywood Cal. + he sent me an autographed photo. I did that for many actors in those days + generally had a good response. I don't know if they do that these days; plus I can't think of many actors these days that I would want their autograph.

Just to keep this on the map; we all recall the actor Sterling Hayden from several films from Ashalte Jungle to Dr. Strangelove + a lot in between. He was an OSS operative in war 2 that parachuted into Eastern Europe to work with the underground. Just discovered after watching the movie a million times that he played the crooked cop that Michael Corleon shot in the restaurant in"The Godfather."

I just watched the new Diana Lane Kevin Costner film Let Him Go.

I do not know why Costner has to use his sling blade voice for every role. However, the film is shot perfect and Diana Lane makes the list on the strength of her role.

I love the end of the climax scenes when the antagonist tells her character to, “Go to Hell!”

Diana Lane’s character blast her with a 12 Bore. The doors behind the antagonist fly open to lapping flames.

I just bought but haven't watched yet "Hollywoodtown" with Diane Lane + Ben Affleck about the suicide/ murder of George Reeves (Superman). It got great revues. I watched a special on that unsolved case many years ago so I'm looking forward to this movie. As far as I know, it has never been established if it was suicide or murder.

I've always liked Diane Lane. As to Costner-he has the looks, but not the voice. At least he is ahead of Kris Kristofferson and his sorry assed voice-whether singing or acting.

I could not stand Kristofferson and Stradand in their version of A Star is Born. His voice and her stupid faces (and voice).

Kristofferson’s role was offered to James Taylor. He turned it down stating it was too close to home.

I can’t believe I left off Eva Gardner.

Eva was dubbed the world's most beautiful woman at the time. When she + then-husband Frank Sinatra was breaking up one of the rat pack crew thought it would be a real joke to make a picture (what we today call a photoshop) of Eva sitting at a table in a nightclub with Peter Lawford. When Sinatra saw the picture he went ballistic + told Lawford he was going to have his legs broken. Lawford was scared as he knew that Frank was capable of that. Fortunately for Peter the guy came forward + said it was only a prank.

The latest Eva Gardner bio asserted Frank Sanataria made Eva Gardner get an abortion.

Let us not forget Heddy Lamar. One of the stories goes as when she was playing Deliah in C.B.s flic, Sampson + Delilah w/ Victor Mature that the chap who worked the lions on her throne brought her back to reality when he asked her in all sincerity "Are you on your period?" At that point, she knew it was more than just a part + became serious.

Recently rewatched "Dr. Strangelove" w/ Peter Sellers + "12 O clock High" with Gregory Peck. Both great films + actors.

My 25 year old front desk security does not know who James Dean, Elizabeth Taylor, or Humphrey Bogart is. She had not heard of Dr. Strange Glove. I am just 32.

The world is truly doomed.

Saw a solid film last weekend called The Little Things new release.

TCM did NOT do their Oscar’s month this year. I have been less than impressed with them lately. I will have nothing to watch if they slip away.

It seems to be hit and miss with TCM. There are times when I am all eyes and ears and other times when I flip the channel and move on.

Just watched those two again for the ten thousandth time in McClintock! With as many movies as they were in together, I'm surprised that it didn't result in some sort of romantic affair!

Now that is a woman that never seemed to age. I loved 'McClintock'. "You know you caused a lot of trouble here today mister + someone ought to hit you right in the mouth, but I won't, no I won't, ah the help I won't." The image is etched on my brain.

I love the Westerns, too. But maybe the best was The Quiet Man.

Yeah, I loved the "annual" fight with Lee Marvin in Donovon's Reef. Also in the Quiet man, I got to noticing that he NEVER smoked all of his cigarette before tossing it. It got so that was all I was watching for.
