Sounds fishy to me. Seems he would have frozen to death during the 5 hour flight at those temps.

Rapidly increasing to that altitude would have given him HAPE and HACE within a matter of minutes. All that expanding fluid in his body has to go somewhere. I'm assuming that he made it up somewhere that was pressurized/heated, at least to some degree.
