You would think they could at least clean up around the house a little bit. Looks almost abandoned. Certainly looks trashy.

Been there. Done that. As a long term life-style it can suck.

If you are in perfect health and in no way disabled it may be all right...for a while. But sooner or later one will reach a point where they can't cut and haul local wood or coal for heat, will find they no longer can raise a truck garden (or a plague of bugs, deer, or drought may kill it), and are no longer a sufficiently productive hunter.

And, of course, there is always the question of obtaining health care, or even being able to contact someone for emergency assistance of any kind.

Much as I detest the overpopulation of this earth that has occurred, I don't feel leaving society behind is a well thought-through response to that problem. Societies evolved to give people mutual support, which is greatly diminished if they don't have fairly regular exposure to what society provides.

Small communities, YES, but the life of a semi-hermit in the boonies, NO THANKS.

My country gal's just a moonshiner's daughter, but I love her still.

I think all the greenies that are pushing for that type of lifestyle for the rest of us should be made to live that life for a year or two!

Drill baby, drill!
