How many remember viewing the "Our Gang" (aka "The Little Rascals") movie shorts from the 1930s as a child - either at the theater or on television? Were these the first truly integrated film entertainment in America? Farina, Stymie, Stymie's little brother, Cotton, made just as much trouble for their adult foils as Spanky, Alfalfa, et al., and nobody in the audience - no kids, no parents, no clergy, nobody - noticed or cared that they were not Caucasian. Sure I remember. I also remember when Eddie Murphy was fixing to go on stage + some stage hand says "get out of my way buckwheat". His first thought was anger, the next was, this could make a good skit. Never mistake motion for action.

I got the whole set on DVD.. My favorite episode is "A lad and his lamp" Definitely not 21st century PC so you will never see it on TV, but it's hilarious. NRA Benefactor. Life is tough... It's even tougher when you're stupid... John Wayne

Which department? Now for the serious question: There used to be four restaurants I enjoyed thoroughly - Schober's Wine restaurant in extreme south St. Louis, Kemoll's (spelling might be incorrect) in north St. Louis just off Interstate 70 for their once-a-month Gourmet Night, Mama's Ristorante in Olivette about Olive Street Road (blvd) and Dielman for the best deep dish pizza I've had, and Jack Kane's Kreiss' Restaurant in Creve Coeur on Lindbergh. Are these still in business? *** You are unlikely to have visited "our" joints in Dago Hill - Galemberti's (really Cassani's) and Rigazzi's, within a block of each other about Hereford and Daggett. I obtained degrees at St. Louis University back when Kurt von Schuschnigg was in the Political Science department. . . . Am I really that old? It's so simple to be wise.
