In the US, just about everybody knows October is breast cancer awareness month, but few realize that this is colon cancer awareness month. Anyone over age 50 who hasn't had some kind of colon cancer screening (colonoscopy or barium enema) should do so. Or in more fun ways to say it: Fight colon cancer, moon a doctor. What's up your ass? Get screened and find out. Just a public service announcement from someone in the trenches fighting colorectal cancer. Caleb

Simple screen is Hemocrit -- screen for blood in the stool. No prep, basically you get a "smear" from the TP. (ICK!) But it beats the snake up the backside, and your ass on TV. -- unless that's your "thing." Your doc should be on top of this issue and part of a regular check-up -- for those of us in the USA who have health insurance.

As a simple annual screen it's good, but you still need the colonoscopy or flex sig and barium enema combo every 10 yrs, or more frequently depending on risk factors. Caleb
