This seems like a poker sort of group. There's a site: PokerStars.net

This is no real money free games. My understanding is that the "dot com" sites are the same outfit only offshore and playing for real money. Flying on the edge of US law.

But I'm just curious about online stuff for now, maybe casino games later.

PartyPoker.net is the "free site."

Pretty much standard, the "net site" is free and the "dot com" site plays for real money. There was a big flap a while back, I think on "Sixty Minutes." One of the previous employees on the site figured out a way to hack into the player's hand. They got busted when a couple of the players were going "all in" on a pair of deuces and grabbing the pot.

PokerStars.net has a long list of software that's banned. But if you're using that software on a second computer, how are they going to know? Also, "one account per player." But what that comes down to is "one account per email addy."

If I play for real money, I think I'm going to insist on a "real casino."

Texas Hold 'Em -- Lately I've been searching the DVR for "Poker" generally. Web sites, casinos. And, my relationships with people are starting to be determined by my "pocket pair," my "chip position,' "the blind," "the flop," "fourth street," and "the river."

I ain't bluffin'

Poker on TV to me is a Flop. Makes me want to cry The River. But what do I know? I have seen maybe ten to twenty seconds of it on TV, then came back to my true love-- ARPF...

It's a mind game. Probability and psychology, which probably explains the commentary here.

I understand the game, but to watch it on TV is like watching grass grow.

I got this same exact comment yesterday at the local watering hole. The commentators are for the most part pretty quick on the wit. Play edits out the dead space. But, just like watching golf, you need to pay attention to strategy and position.

I'm betting for a minimal buy in, I can make better than $50 K annually playing Texas Hold 'Em with the half-baked at the local casino.

It's actually a common occurrence around here for people to have poker party's and they are a lot of fun. I turned 30 in November and I had a poker party and we stayed up until about 3:30 a.m. having a grand time. Even more popular in the wintertime when things are slower on the ranches.
