Identify the sports car in "Romancing the Stone"

Near the beginning of the 1984 motion picture, "Romancing the Stone" (Kathleen Turner and Michael Douglas), Turner's sister drives a red sports car. Is it an A. C. Cobra, custom made by Shelby?
