Not here, but on another one.

I found out that some guys will run a forum, in this case firearms related, and get advertisers based on membership numbers. The more members, the more they can charge for ad space.

I joined this one a couple years ago, and found it too radical, even for me. So, I asked the owner/moderator to drop me from the rolls. He agreed to do so, but I still get the stuff every day. I called him to ask about that, and he said, "yes, we did drop you, sort of. You can't post, but you can read everything."

I said, stop Emailing me. He says "I won't do that." I asked why. He tells me that his ad rates are tied to the number of Emails sent out. If he drops me, he would lose money. I asked how many "Ghost Members" he has, and he tells me about 30%. Anybody who has ever joined is there, even if some of them are dead.

Made my day...

That is a fairly common practice, especially among regional/specialty forums.

That is why I like AR, the PTB's aren't having to pander to "Advertisers" that are concerned about negative discussions costing them business.

ISS--"I joined THIS one a couple years ago". It should be THAT one---this one would be AR.

Same here. Sure, I hang out on a couple others, also frequented by a number of AR members, but this is the primary!

Hell, some of us have some harsh words on the Political Forum, but. were it not for Saeed's graciousness, we'd be hard pressed to find a better forum!

That sounds like a forum with not much fun, and if one chooses to leave , one is "still there" anyway.

When all other forums fail, there is always AR . As i have found out the last 10 years since i started on gun forums.

carpet lizard,

your 6th grade education is showing again.

Read the sentence out loud. It reads "THIS ONE" as opposed to your interpretation of "this one."

You have to start taking things in context. And, had you gone on to the 7th grade, you would have learned about diagramming sentences.

Until the writer/poster changes the subject, which I did NOT, all references are to the original person, place, or thing.

carpetman1:

Skipping the 6th grade education comment. If anyone wanted to spend time correcting grammar and spelling of many, many posts on AR, they would not have time to do anything else. WTF, most of the time, the meaning is perfectly clear, even with some of the more obscure posters, find something else to do with your time.

When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere.

NEVER, EVER book a hunt with BLAIR WORLDWIDE HUNTING or JEFF BLAIR.

I have come to understand that in hunting, the goal is not the goal but the process.

Gato--You are correct, correcting spelling and grammar here would take up all of a person's time. I normally don't do it. For this pseudo intellect, that has self professed superior mentality over everyone else, I make an exception and point out gotchas.

Gato,

yeah, a bit tacky. That said, snipping at my posts is the lizard's main source of entertainment.

I would suggest blocking the emailer from your account...just add their address and you'll recieve nothing from them.

lizard,

why not link the last informative, or entertaining post you have made here. It's likely because you have not been a contributor, just a chickens--t little slug, crawling thru the garden here...

BTW: it is not boasting to share the things of a positive nature you have accomplished. If you'd ever done anything worth sharing you would know that...

Well, men, I'll tell ya, life is too short to carry a internet grudge or fight, usually over an insignificant or imagined slight. I had an ongoing "feud" with another member on here for years. Finally, not too long ago, I realized I'd forgotten what I was mad about. So I PMed him and apologized. He also apologized, both of us not knowing what we were apologizing for, and we're both better off for it. Just a thought.......

And if you really haven't done it, make it up, a little hyperbole here and there--after all the rest of the world is not as smart as you and wont know the difference.

That is a concept all of us could really look at accepting. That is some really great advice for everyone participating on this or any other forum.

Rich, just put him on ignore. Although I can't read what he has written BECAUSE I have him on ignore, I can get the gist of it by what you have posted.

He in effect told me I didn't know what I was talking about regarding casting projectiles for so long I finally got tired of it. I know what I know and he doesn't have any inkling of what I know. I now don't have to waste my time talking back to the idiot.

Put him on ignore. Trust me; you have better things to do with your time. It is like the old adage about wrestling with a pig. You are getting dirty and he is enjoying it.

The ol psycho urr uhh psychic is at it again. Has me on ignore and cant see my posts but he responds to many of them. I think the Doubless (ss) stands for sorry shot which he inherited from his dad. He claims he can tell the difference in 1/10th grain variations of bullet weights when shooting them. Claims it was impossible that a deer his dad shot--but didn't recover was anything other than bullet failure--his dad could not possibly miss a shot.

I am not sure which one of the members that has you on ignore you are speaking of, but at least he knows who his Father is...

All you have is a lab report and a room full of suspects.

ISS--I can see where you would not have a clue who has me on ignore. He posted it, and it would require reading skill.

Not true! Two members have PM'ed me this week to let me know.

If the forum ever goes to cursive instead of print you'd be totally clueless instead of your current 85-90%.

What a twit...
