I would venture a guess that CitiBank can best answer any questions regarding financial matters in that particualar kingdom as well as some other global financial groups. So far the question/answers given are not well received and expect Monday morning when the market opens, there will be some "long faces." Let's hope it does not bring about some more "bailouts" but that seems to be the current strategy of solving "non performing" financial matters. We non professionals call it bad debt. | |||

Velly interlesting..... I recall Saeed calling our politicians hypocrites on numerous occasions, correctly I might add. Given that Dubai won't allow foreigners to leave Dubai with any debts outstanding, I think it should only be fair that until all the money is repaid that ALL Dubai citizens, and ESPECIALLY members of the extended royal family should not be allowed to leave Dubai until the debts are paid in full. Paraphrasing, "True, it is a state owned corporation, and the Monarchy is the state, but we're not going to be responsible for any debts, we just take profits, not losses." Expatriots, I love the word. Is that the word for US corporations that moved to Dubaï and employ expatriates? By the way, interesting to note that the worst bonds were emitted by islamic banks, weren't they supposed to be more ethical than western banks?  | |||

Edmond: Anytime anyone tells you how god-fearing and honest they are, especially about business, you had better keep BOTH hands on your wallet, because he's out to screw you. This applies across religious lines, and Muslims will screw other Muslims just as quickly as Christians vs. Christians. Honor is a personal thing, not a gift from God. Either someone has it, or they don't. Most don't when it comes to money, and it is surprising to me how little money it takes for most people to lose their honor.
