In the fascinating 1931 movie, Trader Horn (available viewing online), Harry Carey and Duncan Renaldo are shooting what appears to be big bore 19th century double rifles. From recoil and video footage it appears they are shooting live ammunition at animals and hitting sometimes. I understand that the riskiest shooting would have been done by professional hunters. But can anyone tell whether the two actors were, in fact, shooting live ammunition some of the time? It's so simple to be wise. Just think of something stupid to say and then don't say it.
