My dad was a ham. He was an old timer W3GQW, he started in 1937 I believe. He had call cards from every country and corner in the world. They where really cool to look at. My older brother took them when passed. Don those walls of yours bring back many memories.

I too have cards from every country. I've been at this for close to 50 years. Saeed is a ham too. In fact, quite a few AR members are.

Something at radios and guns I guess.

No, but I've bounced signals off the moon and also worked the space station.

Cool. I really couldn't see the screen very well at all on my laptop PC when I was at the coffee shop but on my desktop one it's easier to tell- definitely grey-line.

I must also admit I am a bit envious of your QTH with respect to DX'ing other countries... maybe I'm just not ambitious enough. 73

Way cool!

You sir are a kind of geek god, what did the QSL card from the space station look like?

And what did they say?

Well, except for "send women" and that sort of thing....

I'm just so happy with the way it turned out and I'm sorry to say I'm a bit proud but heres my cave.

Exterior south wall. 2.25 acres, end of a dead end rd.

West wall viewing the front door, (10'x 10') the reloading bench and what is generally used for personal gear like camping, fishing, hunting.

East wall viewing the front door and the side of the bldg reserved for the business. The saw horses with the plywood stack covered in plastic has recently been replaced with a 5'x 9' rolling work table that includes a 4'x 8' lower shelf for plywood/ sheetrock storage.

Full kitchen includes stack clothes washer, dish washer, fridge, oven and countertop appliances. Mezzanine for tool/ material storage. Office at right, full bath at left.

Elec, phone and internet provided by local service provider. Heat is infloor with a fuel oil boiler. Well water tests perfect, no filtration required.

Ok now heres the funny part;

I have noticed that in many urban lower 48 communities many residences and really many residents of said urban communities have garages or recreation rooms or a work area like a basement, etc. Mild climates one would find in Calif or Virginia or Texas seem to matter not, the residents usually have some kind of substantial covered or protected living or working space that can be well used to goof off in.

Not in DLG! Here the majority by a wide margin leave their crap and their junk and their stuff in the great outdoors! Better yet, they work on them out there too. Changing tires on the car, playing basketball, painting, snowmobile maintenance, all performed right on the frigging gravel driveway. rifle cleaning? Out on the tailgate of the pickup! I know, I did it for more than ten years myself. Goofy beyond description. Wanna butcher a moose or fillet a salmon? Sawhorses and a sheet of plywood on the lawn. That is if you call the weeds along the side of the gravel driveway a lawn.

F--- that.

I love my Man Cave. Today its in the high 20's, overcast and the occasional drifting snowflake. In my Cave its right at 60, well lit and bone dry. Last weekend I assembled and installed a new snowplow for my pickup. I never brushed the dirt or gravel off my butt after getting up even once.

I knew I recognized that shop, even though most that stuff wasn't there the last time I stopped by. You living there full time, or you still in town?

Can't wait to get back there.

Look at the picture and the row of cards ALL the way on right. Count up 5....that's the card with a picture of the space station.
The card right below that was from contacting Mssion Control in Texas during a shuttle launch, and the two on the bottom from receiving signals from the Voyager 2 mission to Saturn and Jupiter.

Today I operated a station in Qatar. That was fun too.
