Has anyone have done the conversion on an old Peabody carbine or rifle by Prividence tool and how did it turn out and what did it cost?. And anyone rechamber one of the saddle ring carbines to 50-70 and how did that work out?. I've got a Peabody SRC in 56-50 and would like to get it converted to centerfire.Thank you, Frank

There is a company building new ones. I would talk to them about a conversion.

Check with dcpd. Starline makes nice .56-50 brass. I had one of the Spencer knockoffs in this chambering and loved it. There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author

I have both 56-50 spencer cases and 50-70 cases and believe it or not a 50-70 form and trim die. I think they used to charge about $500 to do the conversion. Then a few week I saw it was$800. That Peabody except for some muzzle damage is in really nice shape for a black powder arm that is about 130 years old. Thanks for the info. Frank
