Probably not; the Starline brass is very thick which is why it lasts forever. Pressures are too low to seal. | |||

I can say for absolute 110% certainty that this simply is not true. I've been there, done that, got the targets to show for it. Black will blow out the brass just fine. I have many hundreds of pieces of Starline .38-40 brass and they are about 0.0085" thick. There is no way they resist fire forming to a load of blackpowder, not even sorta maybe. About 34 grs of Swiss 1.5 fg is way more than enough to do it. No need to anneal either (that is an undeserved reputation that Starline seems to have acquired on the innernet... Read the posts; he is talking about 45 Colt, not 38-40. I use 38-40 for 90 percent of my SAA and lever action shooting and you are right about that. All I have is Starline 38-40 and 44-40 that is made into 38-40. It is the 45 Colt that doesn't seal. | |||
