Just heard on another forum from his friend "Shrapnel" that Mike's heart disease finally won the battle. He's been a great read from early in his career when he hated black powder, to coming around and realizing it was very nearly a miraculous propellant that just had some quirks to deal with. Mike, I have treasured your books and your enthusiasm. Thank you.

Yes I too enjoyed much of what Mike wrote though the years. Condolences to his family and may he rest in peace.

That is terrible news! I have talked to Mike and read everything he wrote and have all his books; some autographed. And of course followed all his advice. He was from Williamson WV, on the Tug Fork River, which is only 62 miles from where I am from, although it would take 3 hours to drive there; those from that area know why. Mike was one of a kind.
I am sad to hear this news and wish his family well.

Sad news, indeed.

I learned as much or more from Mike Venturino than any other gunwriter I can name.

Because of his vast experience and skill as a writer, he was a true fount of knowledge.

RIP, Mike.

Sad news, he had a since of humor that reflected in his writing that I always enjoyed. I sold him a 223 custom heavy barreled carbine at the Reno or Vegas gun show many years ago, he loved the gun..

Ah, the best friend I never met, and who opened my eyes to the wonders of BP.

Happy Trails Mike, and my condolences to Yvonne and to all of us who will miss him terribly.
