FFg is a fine choice. Just remember you never want any air space in a cartridge loaded with BP. You generally want some compression.

I shot it with the 405 hollow base softies and 27 grains of 5744 Saturday......seems to shoot about a foot high at 100yds with everything at the lowest setting. I think I need to fabricate a higher front blade.

JTex, I believe the battle sight was set for 200 yards, but could be wrong. Do you have the Buffington rear sight on this gun? Is it a Model 1884 or later?
