I was just given my grandfather's old Case folder after he passed. It is covered in some nasty gunk/grease. What is the best solvent/cleaner to remove this stuff without ruining the patina?

Depending on what the gunk/grease is AND what the handles are made of, I'd probably try WD-40 or any petroleum product like gun oil, ATF, diesel fuel, etc. and a old tooth brush.

When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere.

Watch your timing and test a spot and if it works ... rinse it off well as it will keep on working if you just wipe it.
