I have been toying with the idea of buying a 'kit' knife and installing a handle from the pile of old whitetail antlers in the corner of my garage. My first few will be of the field/skinning/caping sizes.

How thick does the antler need to be in order to have enough strength to take normal usage?

Any tricks to boring a true hole to insert the shank of the handle?

Any favorite tricks to bonding the handle to the blade shank? Plain 'ol epoxy and well testured surfaces is my first thought.
