And what about some Fallknivens. They are made out of laminated VG-10 steel with convex edge and leather handle.

They are a pretty good stuff.

Try one of the Doziers Skinners, they are excellent knives. I read a lot of good about Gene Ingram knives but don't have one yet. I've used the Doziers on several deer and they are the real deal, not too thick, get wicked sharp, good sheaths.......DJ

I will second an Ingram drop point. They are excellent knives and are fairly reasonably priced. You won't have to worry about touching up the blade half way through a field dressing.

I guess this is a 3rd vote for Ingram.
For your price point Gene is hard to beat. I picked up a #2 as a Xmas gift last year from the wife and am very happy with it.
Don`t overlook S30v, It might be a better bet then his D-2

Here is another vote for Gene Ingram's knives. I have 3 of his knives now, actually gave one of them to my wife to carry when we hunt together and she won't give it back except to touch up the blade. I have the Lite Skinner Model, a #4 Drop Point and a SLK pocket knive, all with D2 steel. I really like the Lite Skinner model in D2 steel. We have used it on Texas whitetails and let our trackers use it on a 21 day Tanzania safari on everything from Cape Buffalo to hippo. They would ask "momma" for her knive - I guess they liked Gene's knives too! I would touch it up each night on a set of crock sticks (small version that cost ~$2.50 at Acdamey) back to hair shavin sharp (I think it took about 10-15 strokes). The reason I like this model is when you turn the knive upside down (for opening body cavity, etc.) there is enough drop in the blade tip that you don't dig into the internal organs (i.e., combination drop point/skinner). For the money you can't beat his knives and I have some quality custom knives, including 3 made from damascus steel. Gene Ingram is also a great guy - he will build you a knive with what ever handle material you want and won't bill you until the knive is ready to ship. He makes sheaths out of leather and kydex (plastic) and he will supply both for your knive for a small additional fee.

Doziers are very nice. actually the handles are very slim in my opinion. Seem very well made. Never heard a bad word from anyone who owned one.
