Many years ago I bought, then disposed of, a Lansky diamond sharpening system because its stones were too narrow for my best use. About 18 months ago I bought a Gatco professional diamond sharpening system that did what I wanted to do. . . . And then a close friend stayed with me during and after spinal fusions of C-2, C-3, C-4. and C-5. While her help was invaluable, she outdid herself. She made "order" in my home. And, of course, the Gatco system vanished. I'm not close to being able to search for the hiding place. I decided to buy another one. Is Gatco is out of business? I ask because I cannot locate its web site. If it is, I request recommendation for a similar diamond sharpening system that uses a two-way fixture and WIDE diamond sharpening stones. However, if Gatco is still around, please furnish me with a working link. It's so simple to be wise. Just think of something stupid to say and then don't say it. Sam Levinson

As usual google can be a friend, when one is in need GATCO | Knife Sharpening Systems & Tools. https://www.gatcosharpeners.com/gatco-sharpeners GATCO has been a leading name in sharpening knives, tools and more for over two decades. Every sharpening device is built from quality materials and backed ... Google search lists a bunch of different sources for sales. If it is with Lansky prices can vary GREATLY among sales sources. I asked her. She had no clue where it might be found. The Gatco link is non-functioning. It's so simple to be wise. Just think of something stupid to say and then don't say it. Sam Levinson

The best knife sharpener that I have found for me anyway is a 1in. belt sander.

It has been clearly demonstrated that sharpening can damage the steel !! Power sanding dry is very bad. Liquid cooled power is much better . By hand dry is not quite the best. By hand with liquid is best. Don't bear down hard with diamond , you'll wear the blade excessively and may pull out the diamonds ! So say us metallurgists.
