A customer recently brought me a Joslyn Carbine and an alleged Civil War sword to restore. The sword is just the blade. Poor condition and appears to be a battlefield find. It resembles very closely the blade second from the top in the following link:
https://adworkdesign.com/swords/confederate-swords/

The initials CWC or CWO appear on the left side of the hilt. The blade is 32 1/4 inches long from the tip to the rear of the Ricasso. Fuller is 23 1/4 inches long with a square end at the Ricasso. 9 inch false edge. Hilt is 5 1/2 inches long.

Customer would like the grips, pommel, and quillon replaced. Nothing fancy, just so it looks complete for a display.

Anyone know of a someone who can do this work?

TIA,

Bob

I have a Jap Samurai sword that I traded from a friend whose dad brought it back from the Pacific. Supposedly late 1600s mfg. I checked on getting it correctly resharpened + at the time, I was quoted at $100.00 per inch. I had it dated by the head of the Honolulu Samurai Society at Camp Perry several years ago.

Sounds to me like some more investigation is needed.

1600 manufactured swords are rare.
