Guys I'm ready to order a custom knife. I think I will go with Gene Ingram. I'm thinking in one of the following.

#12 drop point
Shortcut
#1 drop point
GWB
Lite hunter.

The knife will be use for hunting and skinning/general purpose. Can you, guys give me advise.

You won`t regret it. I`ve a #2 in D2 that has proven its self to be a great knife on whitetail. I`m sure it will do duty on anything I will ever hunt.

Gene makes a nice knife, but you owe it to yourself to look at Charles May. Similar style and quality, but a better temper and much sharper.

I have one of Gene's knives.

#1 S30V with Ironwood scales. I haven't skinned anything with it yet, but have taken it hunting. I like it.

I ordered what the 24hr group refers to as the double whammy, lite skinner & #2 bird and trout.


I went with S30V, polished black mikarta scales and mosaic pins. Glad I ordered when I did, as it'll be mid july before I get them. I think his lead time is approaching 1 year.

I've seen so many folks rave about this combo and S30V I figured I couldn't go wrong. His prices have gone up slightly from what's shown on his website.

Thanks for all the reply's. I order the #1 drop point with SPALTED MAPLE BURL/MOSAICS I chose the D2 steel, deliver date will be sometime in November. Now I just have to wait.
