You know after I sharpen a knife, I don't test it.

Why because of two reasons. First it doesn't help the edge to test it, and when I'm finished sharpening a piece, I know it's sharp.

I use worn out 600 grit belts for shape and roughing edge then 1800 rpm buffer for rough finishing and 3600 Rpm buffer for final finish. Main thing is to continuously watch temp on edge. Mirror finish on 440C or 154CM at Rc60-61, tells the story.

Interesting piece this, I had the flanks of the blade coated with Titanium Nitride for protection. Also gives a nice gold color to the blade which is Vacuum heat treated 440C stainless. A custom piece by Roderick C. Chappel.
