I use a Rem. 700 Classic, with 2 loads. For big game I use the 115 gr. Nosler partition with Rem. brass, Fed. 215 primer, and 54.5/IMR-7828. This has worked well on deer, antelope, and elk, but I really prefer a larger rilfe (like the .338 Win.) for elk. For varmints I use the 87 gr. Rem. HP with Rem. brass, Fed. 210 primer, and 58.5/H-4831. The .25-06 to me is a true deer/varmint caliber.

Dale- Thanks for the post. I agree the 25.06 is ideally best suited to whitetails down to varmints, which is exactly what I use it for. I have a 30.06 Weatherby Mark V that's tuned in pretty good that I'd like to take an elk with, someday (keeping my fingers crossed). I appreciate the load info. Yours is the first loads i've seen using IMR-7828. I'm writing all this down for future use. TJ

I used 57g IMR-7828 under a 115g NBT, CCI 200, 3.250". 1/2" to 3/4" 3 shots at 100 yards. 3415fps. Rifle was a Ruger MKII S/S with score-hi muzzle brake. Killed lots of coyotes and deer up and out to 600 yards. Never once had a failure.

I have three varmint bullets that shoot descent in my .25-06 the 87gr Speer TNT, 85gr Nosler BT, and the 75gr Sierra HP. The Sierra 75 Varminter is grouping -.7 and if it proves out on ground hogs and coyotes will be the round I will load. My current load is Rem. brass, Win LR primer, 57.0gr of IMR 4831(near max), and seated near a full caliber which puts it well off the lands. I did not expect this load to perform well, but was surprized the first 5 shot group measured 0.689. It shoots consistenly under MOA with this load in my Rem. Mtn rifle. Nosler 100gr. Partitions fill the bill for my deer load. My gunsmith tuned the stock trigger to 3 lbs. and I'm well satisfied with it on a hunting class rifle.

I own a Ruger model 77 in 25-06 it loves 50.5 gr. IMR4350 behind a 100 gr. sierra spitzer boattail in winchester brass and winchester large rifle primers. Bullet seated 0.25 off the lands. Will shoot 1/2" groups with this load. Jeff
