| As popular a caliber as this is, the best suggestion is to get your hands on as many reloading books as possible and work up the loads with the powders you mentioned.
What works for my rifle, may not work in yours, and vise versa.
Good Luck. |

| I shoot a 6mm, not much different from the 243. The best powder I have found for it was IMR 4831. I will be trying RL 22 in the next few weeks just because I heard it was a good powder.
H4831 is what my father has used in his 6mm since 1968. Very accurate and dependable.
Good Luck,

| Hopefully you tried your H-4831 and H-4831sc with some 100 gr bullets as a first option. If your results weren't satisfactory, I suggest you try either IMR-4350 (sort of the universal .243 powder, especially with 100 gr bullets, start at 38 gr or so, and work up carefully) or Reloder 22. With lighter bullets for varmints, you might have decent success with your 3031, H414 or H380. I had good results with IMR-4064 and Nosler 70 gr Ballistic Tips in my .243's back when I used to use them. Good Luck.
Bullets are pretty worthless. All they do is hang around waiting to get loaded.

| I shoot a T3 in .243 and my most accurate load so far is 95gr sst over 42 grains of I-4350, its a pretty consistent sub MOA load for me, if I use 95gr NBT groups open up to about 2 inches. |

| H414 is what I use in my rem classic.Start lower and work up to 45 grs if you want to try the Sierra 85 gr BTHP. Brother has allready took 4 deer with this load this year. |

| To bad you say a 1 in 10 twist that will be a problem if you plan on shooting any thing over 90 Gr I'm thinking. Having said that my all time favorite .243 load is WW brass, Hornady 87 Gr sp interlock, 42 Gr. of 4250 with a CCI primer. |

| chola, sorry i''m answering this so late,my best load ever was 100 gr sierra bt federal case,BR-2 primer and 42.5 gr of r-22 this is max load so start lower, yes you can use different brass or bullets but drop your powder charge acordingly. the above load shot a 3/8 inch 3 shot group at 200 yds with a 7.5 lb trigger pull. rifle was a pre a-bolt browning...BBR. the 243 is a ausome caliber as your finding out,as you stated above speer bullets are very accutate, i shoot all brands of bullets fun ain''t it? ps iv''e found many excellent load out of nosler manuals, ...jjmp |
