I have 2 loads I'm using in a model 70 with a 24" barrel. My 140 gr. load is a 140 nosler partition with 65 gr. IMR 7828. It does 3100 fps in my rifle. I also load 125 partition with 70 gr. of H1000. These are both max load in my rifle so work slowly..

I have a 28" barrel on mine and get 3280fps with 67.5 gr of Retumbo with 129 Hornady SST's. With 63.5 gr of Retumbo with 140 Hornady SST's I get 3170fps. The 140 group better than the 129's with no tinkering done, however both shoot under an inch at 100. I would also recommend trying out some H870, US869, or if the powder companies would ever get off of their collective butts and get some of those new powders they have on the shelves, Winchester 780 should give another 125-200fps.

i know you asked for 140 grain bullets, but my favorite load for whitetails is 60.5 grains of vv n-560 with 120 grain barnes tsx, and fed 215 match primers. getting about 3250 fps, and accuracy is great. devastating on whitetails.

I just worked a load for my first custom rifle. It's a Briley Custom Shop .264 with a 26" Lothar Walther barrel, McMillan stock built on a 700 action. It shoots 140 gr. Sierra Game Kings at about 3100 fps with 61.1 gr of H4831sc, win Mag primers. 1" group at 300 yards.
