| 15 years ago, I would have said Unique. Nowadays, Universal Clays. Burns a little cleaner, with similar performance.
Bullets are pretty worthless. All they do is hang around waiting to get loaded.

| Accurate Arms #5, their competitor to Unique... Six grains in the 9mm behind a 125-grain lead round nose, a 158-grain SWC in a .38 Special, or a 175-grain round nose in the .40 S&W. I shoot 11 grains behind a 44 mag 250 SWC or a 210-220 grain SWC in the .41 Mag, and 4.5 grains in the .380 with 100-grain pills. Haven't played with it in the .32 H&R, 45 Colt or 45 ACP yet, but so far it is pretty darned good in what you see listed above. |

| another vore for UNIQUE and I've got a stash so won't be changing to anything new in the immediate future, either. .38 Spl., .357 Mag., .45 ACP, .44 Mag. and like others have said also not just for the pistols & revolvers it works great in 20 & 28 Gauge too.

| H110- Gives me the best performance in my big bore revolvers and I would only hope I could make it work in my auto's. Still I could'nt give up my H110.

| Unique and accurate arms number 5 Both of these powders will do most pistols and reduced loads in many rifles. Be careful in the reduced rifle loads as problems can arise with large case capacitys . I know we are talking about pistols here but have to tell yall about my great reduced 3030 load . I cast 130 grain bullets which shoot great out of m1 carbine pistols Automag and Ruger Not with unique or num 5. (but could be loaded) I use 6.8 grains of aa# 5 in 3030s with 2 inch groups at 100 yds on a good day. Non gas checked no leading after 100 rounds ( no filler added too , bullet sized to 309 dia ) crono broken but will penetrate 3inch maple tree and blow the crap out of cans I suspect1400 mabee with no recoil and no ear muffs good shooting to yuall from Kentucky |

| A year and a half ago I answered Vectan SP2 but that is probably not available in the US. Next best powder is VihtaVuori N340. See my post in Your Favorite Loads for 40 S&W.

+1 I load 38/357 and 45ACP and Universal is pretty much all I use. Then again, Hodgdon/IMR is the local powder company.

| Hodgdon HS6, which is pretty much the same sort of stuff as Win. 231. I like the way it fills the cases for 38/357, 45 ACP. For 44 mag. I go with Hodgdon H110, which is formulated specifically for this caliber.
But HS6 works for 44 mag, if I could only use one. |
