A few years back I ran some loads with H335 through my M1 Garand. It was a Winchester 147gr FMJ-BT, 49.0gr of H335 in Lake City cases and Rem 9-1/2 primers. Velocity was in the 2700s in 40 deg temps. I was using data from the Hodgdon powder manual; now that I look at them, my Sierra and Speer books don't even show H335 for the nearby bullet weight of 150gr. Didn't seem to do any damage to the op rod. In the Sierra Loading Manual, 5th Edition, H335 is located between two recommended Garand powders, Win 748 and IMR 4895, on the burning rate chart, so it should be safe. The Sierra Reloading Manual also has a good section entitled, "Gas Gun Reloading", dealing with reloading for M1s and M1As (yeah, and those little black rifles too).

SPUTSTER...Thats exactly what I tried the other day! I also loaded 47 grains of Varget, with Wincherster 147 grain boattails and got better accuracy. 8 shots in a two inch square at 100 yards. Hope to do better with the next loads using A-max Hornadys, 168 gr. My rear sights move around a bit, and I think I can srink the moa down even more. Does the rubber band method work? Anyone have a better idea on how to keep the site from moving around? Thanks!
