Looking for 120 grain max load data with RL 19
or similar powder. Had another 257 Ackley
and lots of loaded ammo. Broke down loads and have worked up to old safe max. I want some data to see if my old loads were in the norm.

One source has 51 gr of RL-19, with velocity of 3055fps. for a 120 gr bullet.

Nosler though shows a max load of 47.5 gr with 115 gr bullets, so I reckon the first one is a bit hot.

In my Hart 257 AI I am able to get 3050 with IMR 4831 or IMR 7828 and Federal 215 M primers in Winchester brass. My barrel length is 25".

308Sako:

What action are you using please? Just wondering what your cartridge over-all length is?

Broke down my old loads for old 257 Ackley 20"
Ruger UL (my old load was 50.5 gr RL 19 with 120 Speer or Nosler Part) worked up to 50.5 RL19 120 NP RP cases Rem 700 SA 24" for 3045 FPS. Probably to hot for a woking load but .74"
@ 100 3 shot. 52 gr RL 19 with old Barnes X 100 gr for 3200. It was 15 degrees F so please do not try these loads without working up! The AA manual has some loads for the 257 Ackley that are quite warm. I stopped well below there max in my old rifle.
My rifle has the mag box lengthed and is throated about like a long action.

Would like to know what Quick Load or another program has to say on pressure and velocity of above loads.
