I've pretty much decided to put off buying a dedicated varmint rifle but may still have the opportunity to shoot a few groundhogs -- what are your favorite varmint loads for the .280 Rem.?

Here's one that has worked for me, for a long time, in my two .280 Remington rifles. Both these loads shoot 3/4" groups, for me.

Speer 115 gr. JHP
50.0 grs. IMR 4064 powder
CCI LRP

That's gonna do a number on just about any varmit out there, including coyotes.

Good luck.

John, it's been five or six years since I last chrono'd it, but at that time, is was 3,160 FPS... which works just fine for me.

Work up to it. No problems in my rifles.

Good luck. L.W.

I second Sask-hunter........I shoot the 120gr
V-Max in my 280 and 7mag. Great accuracy and excellent results on critters.
